Prank Patrol Down Under

‘Prank Patrol’ first starred Barney Howard and the ‘Ninjas’ in 2010 to early 2011.  Kids around the UK had to phone ‘Prank Patrol’ and explain why they wanted to prank their best friend and Barney would choose the best ones to go on the show!

Now, there is a new series called ‘Prank Patrol- Down Under’, which is the same, but based in Australia!  The presenters are Scotty and the ‘Ninjas!’

Scotty and the Ninja’s help kids to create and build the prank of a lifetime on their best friend – all they have to do is call in the Prank Patrol and the prank will begin!

Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular in Melbourne

At the weekend in Melbourne, a big orchestra concert held at the Plenary Hall in Melbourne’s Convention and Exhibition Centre. Whilst different pieces of music were playing, monsters such as the Cybermen, Daleks and the Silence. The performances were hosted by Mark Sheppard who appeared in the first two episodes of the new series shown last year. It was the first time Australia had held a concert like this and it proved it was successful as it sold out! It was inspired by the BBC Proms Doctor Who special.

David Stratton

I wrote about David Stratton because he was born in Trowbridge and is now a famous Australian film critic and TV presenter.

David Stratton was born on 10th September 1939 in Trowbridge. He is an English-Australian film critic and a TV celebrity. He is currently presenting At the Movies on ABC with Margaret Pomeranz. When he was a child he was sent to Hampshire to live with his grandmother during the war, where he was taken to the local cinema regularly. In Bath he saw his first foreign film which was Bread, Love and Dreams. He founded the Melksham and District Film Society at the age of 19 which I don’t think is still running.

David arrived in Australia in 1963 and directed the Sydney Film Festival from 1966 until 1983. He is a highly regarded expert on International Cinema – especially French. He was the President of FIPRESCI Juries in Cannes twice and in Venice once. He started working for SBS from 1980. From 2005 he started presenting At the Movies.

David Stratton’s Awards:

The Centenary Award

Croix de Commandeur of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres

Australia Film Institute’s Longford Life Achievement Award

He received an Honorary degree of Doctor of Letters from the University of Sydney

He was awarded the 60th Anniversary Medal by Festival du Film de Cannes

He received The Chauvel Award by the Brisbane International Film Festival

I think David is a very interesting man. He obviously loves films and I hope he receives lots more awards for his dedication to movies.

I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here

I’m A Celebrity is a reality show on ITV1 filmed in the Springbrook National Park, Gold Coast, Queensland. It is shown most nights from November to December. There have been 11 series and Ant and Dec have presented all 11. These are the celebrities

  • Antony Cotton – Coronation Street Actor
  • Crissy Rock – Actress and Comedian
  • Dougie Poynter – McFly Bass Guitarist and Vocalist
  • Emily Scott – DJ and Model
  • Fatima Whitbread MBE – Olympian
  • Freddie Starr – Comedian
  • Jessica-Jane Clement – Actress
  • Lorraine Chase – Actress
  • Mark Wright – The Only Way Is Essex Star
  • Pat Sharp – Radio and TV Presenter
  • Sinitta – Pop Star
  • Stefanie Powers – Actress
  • Willie Carson OBE – Champion Jockey

Week 1

To start off the series the celebrities all gathered in a luxury hotel. They then flew to the jungle where they would face their first challenges. The celebs were split into two teams and each team had a different way of getting to their camps. One team had to parachute and one team canoed. They were then greeted by Ant and Dec with yet another challenge. Collecting stars by using only their mouths but there were bugs and creatures making it harder! The winning team won the luxury camp, Croc Creek and the losing team go Snake Rock. On Day 2, Mark and Freddie faced the first Bushtucker trial, The Greasy Spoon. Freddie won by getting 5 stars to Mark’s 3. After the trial Freddie had to exit the jungle because of an allergic reaction to the Camel Toe! When I found that out I laughed my head off. Mark was chosen again to compete in the next Bushtucker trial, but this time against Stefanie. The trial was Creepy Cript, the celebrities were placed into a coffin and had to find the stars whilst being covered in cockroaches and other gross insects. Two new celebrities entered the jungle in this episode Sinitta and Pat Sharp. They had to sleep in a cave full of cockroaches to gain the other celebrities their luxury items. My favourite is Lorraine’s Tedward. For the next Bushtucker trial Fatima and Dougie went head to head in Rat-Run. Fatima won by digging for all the stars and getting to the end first. The two camps were then told they had to be merged which upset Snake Rock as they had made a family. Stefanie as Mum, Willie as Dad, Dougie as Son, Jessica-Jane as Daughter and Sinitta as Aunty. I think that is pretty sad as they are all grown people! In episode 5, Emily Scott entered the jungle. She’s an Australian DJ and Model. Sinitta was chosen by the public to do the next trial called Cable-Cartastrophe. She managed to get 4 stars out of a possible 12. She is terrified of everything and couldn’t even touch the box as she was so scared! Philip Schofield appeared on a TV in the jungle asking questions about each of them. If they got the questions right they would win a trip to The Jungle Arms and get a well-deserved beer! That ended Week 1 and Week 2 was going to get a whole lot worse…

Rolf Harris

Rolf Harris appeared on Piers Morgan’s ‘Life Stories’.  Piers Morgan was talking mostly about his painting.  He used to have a club called ‘Rolf’s Cartoon Club’ where he taught kids art.  Rolf also had a show called ‘The Rolf Harris Show’ in 1969.  In 1977 he had a show called ‘Rolf on Saturday, OK?’  He did more art in this show.

Rolf Harris has done Art, singing and dancing on TV.  He has also painted a portrait of the Queen for her 8oth birthday.  That painting is my favourite one.  Rolf Harris has been on a Churchill advert.  I think that Churchill advert is the best one.

X Factor Australia

The X Factor Australia was adapted from The X Factor UK to find new singing talent in Australia. It was first shown in 2005 but it was cancelled after Series 1. Series 2 started in 2010 after it was re-boosted and this year Reece Mastin won.

The judges are Mel B, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Ronan Keating and Guy Sebastian. The host is Luke Jacobz. I have never watched X Factor Australia so I don’t know what it’s like, how good the singers are or if the winners are amazing or rubbish! The Xtra Factor is also shown in Australia and is hosted by Natalie Garonzi who is an Australian actress, writer, comedian and TV Presenter! I hope to watch The X Factor Australia soon so I know what it’s like and whether I prefer to The X Factor in our country.
